In fact, one out of three Americans - 60 million people - will experience a mental health concern during his or her lifetime. In addition, it is estimated that nearly 17.6 million adult Americans abuse alcohol or are alcoholic. Several million more adults engage in risky drinking that could lead to alcohol problems.

The new federal health care reform law requires states to set up a temporary health insurance program – or “high-risk pool” – for uninsured people with preexisting health conditions, including several mental illnesses.
