What Is Substance Abuse Treatment?

A Booklet for Families


When a loved one enters substance abuse treatment, it is a time of great stress and uncertainty for their family and friends. This booklet explains to family members or loved ones what a person is experiencing in the first days of treatment and will help alleviate some of the fears and anxiety being experienced by the friend or family. This publication provides basic information to the family members and friends about substance abuse treatment and early recovery, what to expect when a family member or friend enters treatment, and what us happening in the early stages of treatment.
